Weeds can be annoying in a garden. Here are some methods to get rid of weeds easily. 1.Vinegar Vinegar is one of the most potent natural weedicides. Vinegar is rich in acetic acid. Acidity in vinegar kills the leaves and also makes the soil acidic making it difficult for weed seeds to germinate. However, some weeds with waxy leaves or hairy foliage can be resistant to vinegar. Therefore to increase vinegar's effectiveness, you can add salt or soap solution. 2. Borax Borax can help kill weeds. To do so, add 300 grams of powdered borax to 9 liters of water. Mix thoroughly, then spray the mixture on the leaves of unwanted plants using an ordinary garden spray bottle. Refrain from spraying the plants you want, and try to stay out of direct contact with the liquid. 3. Citrus Oil If you want to kill weeds without harming plants, citrus oil may be just the thing for you. It also has a beautiful scent in contrast to chemical weedicides. 4. Coconut Oil Coconut oil is a natural remedy to kill weeds. It contains fatty acids retaining water, which causes them to wilt and die. It also disrupts the normal functioning of plants, like photosynthesis, transpiration, and respiration. 5. Common Salt Common salt or rock salt immediately destabilizes the pH of the soil and kills the plants by depriving them of moisture content, thereby causing severe dehydration. But the downside is that the salt dissolves quickly in water and loses its efficacy. 6. Boiling Water Boiling water is an easy and effective way to kill small weeds. 7. Sugar As a cheap alternative to expensive chemical pesticides, sugar creates an unhealthy, low-nitrogen media for weeds, eventually leading to their withering and death. 8. Corn Meal Corn is not a weed-killing agent, but it does work wonders to prevent seeds from germinating and rooting. Corn meal can be used as a pre-emergent weedicide. It affects all plants equally, so be careful not to spread corn meal on garden beds. 9. Lemon Juice When it comes to weed control, lemon juice works fine to prevent the growth of weeds. Citric acids in lemon juices have a scalding effect on leaves, killing the plants quickly. Furthermore, the acetic acid in it ruptures the protective waxy covering on leaves and eventually drys out the plants. A mixture of vinegar, lemon juice, and boiling water is more effective on weeds. 10. Baking Soda Baking soda increases the salinity of soil killing the plants. 11. Mulch Mulch is an excellent method to control weed growth in the garden. Bark mulch is much more effective as a weed suppressant. Mulch kills the weeds by keeping them below the surface and depriving them of essential sunlight.
